Rare Natural Phenomena

1. Everlasting Thunderbolt - Venezuela


The mysterious Catatumbo thunderbolt is a unique natural phenomena in the world.
It is in the mouth of Catatumbo river and Maracaibo Lake. It appears as thunderbolt clouds that form a 5 km "flash line", every 140 - 160 nights in a year, for 10 hours every night, and more than 280 times in that hour.
It can almost be called 'permanent storm'. This thunderbolt has 400,000 amperage intensity and be seen until 400 km afar.

According to research, this thunderbolt happens because of the winds collision from Andes Cordillera. This thunderbolt is also used as a navigator by many sailors.


2. Fish Rain - Honduras


The Rain of fishes is told in Honduras Folklore. But, it also happens for real in Departamento de Yoro, between May and July. Witness says, that it starts with dark clouds in the sky, followed by thunder, bolt, big winds, and heavy rains for 2 - 3 hours. After the rain stops, hundreds of fishes were found alive on the ground. People picked those fish and cooked them. Since 1998, the Fish Rain Festival is celebrated every year in Yoro city.


3. Climber Goat - Maroko



Goats that climb trees can only be found in Maroko. This goat climb the tree for its Argan fruit, which look similar like the Olives.


4. Red Rain - Kerala


From July 25 until September 23, 2001, red rain fall in south South India,Kerala province. Not only red, but yellow, green and black rains were also reported to exist. The India Government find that this rain is "colored" by the spores from algae, spread wide in the air. Then, in the early 2006, Kerala becomes the world attention.


5. Longest Waves - Brazil



Twice in a year, between February and March, the water from Atlantic Ocean gather in the Amazon River, creating the longet waves in the world. When the rapid from Atlantic Ocean fulfills the river mouth, thus it creates a 12 feet waves that can last more than half an hour.


6. Black Sun - Denmark



During the fall season in Denmark, around one hour and a half before twilight, more than one million Sturnus Vulgaris (kind of bird) gather from all places creating an extraordinary flock in the air. And so the sky becomes dark. This phenomena is called Black Sun, and can be seen in the beginning of West Denmark fall season.


7. Fire Rainbow - Idaho



This atmosphere phenomena called circumhorizon arc or Fire Rainbow, will appear when the sun is high (more than 58 degrees on top of the horizon. The sun rays straightly thorugh and shine cirrus clouds, so as it produces a kind of six angle crystal piece and form a prism effect. Thus, we can see a rainbow that looks like fire.
